The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of utilizing the error analysis technique to gauge the writing proficiency of students. The research employed a quantitative approach, utilizing the descriptive and explanatory guidelines provided by Allan and Corder to examine the students' writing samples. To achieve this objective, a writing test was administered to a group of Universitas Tama Jagakarsa students, who served as the study participants. The findings of the research revealed that the students made a variety of errors, including grammatical, lexical, and other types of mistakes in their English writing. Among these errors, grammatical errors were found to be more frequent than lexical and other types of errors. This research provides valuable insights into the challenges that students face in mastering English writing and the areas that need to be addressed in order to improve their writing skills.
