The primary objective of this research is to conduct an error analysis on the use of the simple present tense, with the aim of identifying and classifying the errors that are commonly made by learners. The study will also explore the frequency of occurrence of these errors. To achieve these goals, the researchers will use a test on the English simple present tense, which will be administered to first-year students at Universitas Tama Jagakarsa. Although the population of the study comprises three classes, the researchers will select a sample of 34 students as it would be impractical to include the entire population. The research will also compare the pre-test results before teaching the use of simple present tense to the post-test results after teaching the use of simple present tense. The pre-test results showed a score of 1,572.5, while the post-test results were 1,787.5. The findings of this research will be significant as they will be useful for the teaching of English, particularly in teaching the use of the simple present tense. Facilitators can use these findings to help learners avoid common errors and improve their understanding and application of the simple present tense. Ultimately, this research will contribute to enhancing the overall quality of English language education.
