The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' English speaking skills through the use of board games for junior high school students. The use of the simple past tense test method is expected to be able to improve students' speaking skills in using English. Data collection uses classroom action research from Kemmis and Taggart, which consists of planning, action, observation and reflection. The study was conducted on 36 grade 7 junior high school students, where the class taken as a sample was a class in which the students still lacked the ability to speak English. Based on the results of the research, the board game use model is proven to improve students' speaking skills because it involves students in cooperative learning, so that students are more enthusiastic and enthusiastic about participating in class lessons. this is evident from the score of students' speaking ability in the preliminary cycle I which was 5.83 which increased to 7.58 in cycle II, and increased again to 7.88 in cycle III.
